What Is Manganese Methionine?
Manganese Methionine Complex is an organic compound that contains the trace mineral manganese chemically bonded to the essential amino acid methionine.
Manganese and Methionine – What Do They Do?
Manganese is a trace mineral required by animals to maintain many biological functions. In addition, manganese is a component and activator of many enzymes. The animal requires supplemental manganese since typical feedstuffs are manganese-deficient and the manganese levels need to be adequately maintained in the animal’s body. There is very little storage in the body of manganese; thus the animal diet must contain enough absorbable manganese to meet daily requirements.
Methionine is an essential sulfur-containing amino acid. However, methionine is one of the most limiting amino acids in animal diets and cannot be synthesized in enough quantity by the animal to meet daily requirements.
